The Up-To-The Minute Twelve Days Holiday $250 Challenge

Way back in 1780 in merry old England, the song/rhyme The Twelve Days of Christmas was published for the first time. Though its origins are debated to this day, the theme describes an increasingly lavish series of gifts given over the course of the 12 days leading up to Christmas.

For the record, the gifts were:

1 Partridge in a Pear Tree
2 Turtle Doves
3 French Hens
4 Calling Birds
5 Gold Rings
6 Geese-a-Laying
7 Swans-a-Swimming
8 Maids-a-Milking
9 Ladies Dancing
10 Lords-a-Leaping
11 Pipers Piping
12 Drummers Drumming

With all due respect to this 234 year-old tradition, we at NuoDB are starting a new holiday take on the 12 days. The original gifts are not as useful today as they were back in the day (kind of like some of the 30 year old database technologies!). So we’re taking it au courant!

Starting December 13th and right up to the 25th, we will offer up a new version called The Twelve Days of DBMS.

1 Santa ready to roll
2 Sock monkeys dressed for holiday parties
3 Tiered architecture
4 CTOs-a-chatting
5 Operating systems
6 Multi tenant databases
7 SQL Superstars
8 Engineers-a-coding
9 ACID transactions
10 Cranes-a-flying
11 Scenes from December 11th
12 Total costs of ownership

On the 12th day we will select one winner for a special gift! The loyal reader who re-tweets and shares The Twelve Days more (and better) than anyone else will receive a $250 Apple gift card to make his/her holidays merrier.

Filled with holiday spirit, we hope these 12 items will inform and amuse you in this happy season. Starting today – December 13 – you can find the clues on Twitter @nuodb.
