Leading NextGen Database Companies to Debate Database Futures in New York
New York City Summit Brings Together Visionary Leaders From Three Leading Database Companies
Cambridge, MA – April 23, 2013 – NuoDB, Inc., the pioneer in Cloud Data Management Systems (CDMS), announced today they are bringing together visionary executives from leading database companies NuoDB, MongoDB and Couchbase in an executive summit to discuss “The future of 21st Century Databases”.
The roundtable will feature:
- Barry Morris, Co-Founder and CEO, NuoDB, Inc.,
- Bob Wiederhold, President and CEO, Couchbase
- Eliot Horowitz, CTO and Co-Founder, 10gen/MongoDB
It will be held on May 1, 2013, 7-9 PM (EDT) at AOL, 770 Broadway, 6th Floor, New York City.
Registration is required and can be found here.
Panel to tackle range of topics
The panel will describe their unique perspectives on the database landscape and how databases are evolving to meet the next generation challenges of mobile, cloud and social applications. Topics will include performance, scalability, SQL and NoSQL, sharding, caching, multi-tenancy and geo-distribution of databases.
The panel will also touch upon the common attributes among these next generation database systems as well as areas in which their capabilities differ. NuoDB and NoSQL databases are similar in their goals of addressing performance, highly-parallel scalability, schema-flexibility and ease of use. However the products differ significantly in terms of such things as SQL support, (ACID) transactions, geo-distribution and security.
“It’s time for the leaders in 21st century database systems to provide guidance to users on where the industry is going,” stated Barry Morris, CEO and Co-Founder of NuoDB. “The 1980s database systems have served the industry well for three decades, but systems designers acknowledge that these older solutions struggle with the demands of modern data management. All database stakeholders, from developers to CIOs, are wondering what is next. A good way to answer that is to get the thought leaders into a room to provide their contrasting perspectives.”
