Physical / virtual machine host Environments

The NuoDB Community Edition is a multi-host version of the NuoDB distributed database, limited to three Transaction Engines and one Storage Manager.

The Community Edition is free of charge and allows you to self-evaluate NuoDB through a series of quick-start guides and/or build and run your applications on your own laptop, desktop, or in the cloud:

  • ACID compliant transactions
  • Rich ANSI SQL capabilities
  • Simple to use administration

Step 1:

Review the System Requirements.

Step 2:

Select and download the NuoDB Release 4.0 server package (and client package if evaluating client tools) for the appropriate operating system (listed to the right). By downloading, you accept these terms and conditions.

Step 3:

Provision resources, and start a database (check out this resource). Enable NuoDB Insights by running the command:

Visit the Developer Center for tips on getting started, product documentation and user forums. Support for the Community Edition is available only through the KnowledgeBase.

Community Edition of NuoDB limits your deployment to:

  • 3 Transaction Engines and 1 Storage Manager
  • Deployment in a single location

For the Enterprise Edition, which has no limit on the number of TEs and SMs deployed, please contact to buy a license.

Note: While we provide the Community Edition on both Linux and Windows, we currently only support Linux for production deployments.

Red Hat OpenShift Environments

red hat logoOpenShift is an open source container application platform based on the Kubernetes container orchestrator for enterprise application development and deployment.

NuoDB users can now deploy, run, and manage a NuoDB database natively inside the Red Hat OpenShift container management platform to service SQL-based application also running in Red Hat OpenShift. For more information, see Deploying NuoDB in an OpenShift Environment.

For more information, check us out on the Red Hat Container Catalog.

Unlike our Self-Directed Trial and Proof of Concept evaluation options, scaling on the Community Edition is limited to three transaction processing nodes and one durability node and cannot run across multiple data centers.

If you’d like to explore those capabilities, you can contact us to discuss a Self-Directed Trial or Proof of Concept or request a free short consultation with a solution architect who will explore with you how NuoDB could fit into your application's architecture.
