Dirk Hamstra

Vice President of Customer Success

Dirk is responsible for customer success.  He is focused on making sure the database deployments are successful, with high customer satisfaction. Dirk joined NuoDB in 2014, after 10 years at Microsoft, where he was responsible for the top 100 Global Accounts.

Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years in sales and services management roles in established and startup companies, including IBM, Microsoft, Vitria Technology, and IONA Technologies. His primary industry focus in these companies has been healthcare and telco companies. 

Dirk started his career with IBM in the Netherlands, where he was responsible for IMS to DB2 migration projects across Western Europe. He also held various technical leadership roles at IONA and Vitria where he helped customers realize the benefits of break-through distributed technology solutions, specifically in the communications industry. At Microsoft, his responsibility included commercial healthcare business in the Northeastern U.S. and the Services business in Latin America, before taking on a global leadership role. 

Dirk holds a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.B.A. from the Rijksuniversiteit in Groningen. Born and raised in the Netherlands, he speaks Dutch, German, Spanish and English. He loves spending time with his wife, daughter and son. Dirk is an avid sports fan, frustrated soccer player and passionate about strategy games, reading and greyhounds.
